Which Fish Oil is Best?

Which Fish Oil is Best?

Need some fish oil but you are a little intimidated looking at the big fish oil section of the health food store.   Looking at the bottles it's confusing!  Salmon oils, krill oils fish oil mixes.  Some bottles have 500 pills and they're cheap while others have 90 pills but they're more expensive!  Some are liquid and some are cod!

OH MY!!!

Well there is no need to feel scraed if you read this.  All the mystery of buying a good fish oil ends here!

I want to simply let you know what you need to look for when you buy fish oil.  It all begins with whether or not you want a softgel or a liquid.  It’s not a difficult decision because I will let you in on the difference.  When you buy liquid you don't need to take pills, when you buy pills you simply need to swallow a pill.  Absorption is the same it just has to do with how much you take per dose!

Afraid of the taste of a liquid, no worries because fish oil has come a long way.  Tastes of lemon, apple, orange and mango are the new in the world of fish oil flavors.
Heck you can even get smoothie flavored ones now.  Take a spoonful everyday and VOILA! your dose of fish oil is complete for the day.

Or you can take softgels.  Here is where some confusion comes in for the consumer.  If you choose a pill, you only need to look for for a pharmaceutical grade fish oil in a softgel.  Pharmaceutical grade simply refers to a therapeutic dose of fish oil in each capsule.  Add up the DHA and EPA on the label and if each capsule adds up to at least 800 mg BOOM!!!  you’re good.

DHA and EPA?

What is DHA and what is EPA?  Well without getting to technical this is OMEGA 3.  We supplement with fish oil for the simple fact it contains omega 3, DHA is great in the formation of the brain and eyes in children and is great for adults in the ability to regulate mood and concentration.  EPA is what regulates inflammation, if you have any issues with high blood pressure, aching joints, eczema or even IBS these are all signs of inflammation and supplementing with omega 3 is sure to aid in these conditions.

To sum things up, pick up a fish oil that contains high DHA and EPA in a softgel or pick up a liquids which tends to already have those high numbers.  If you are worried about heavy metals in fish oil I wouldn’t be to concerned, I know companies are quite strict with testing and will not allow anything harmful within there products if you stick with a reputable company that makes fish oils.  Don’t get fooled by the latest research on fish oils or the latest way to get your omegas.  Just stick with a standard pharmaceutical grade omega 3 fish oil to treat your body with care.
