Why does my B 12 cost more than yours?

Why does my B 12 cost more than yours?

In a health food stores I see customers pick up bottles of vitamin B12 looking to improve their energy levels.  As they bring the cheapest bottle up to the counter I ask them a question that often changes the way they look at vitamin B12 for the rest of their lives.

The question I ask is this:

"Have you ever tried the methylcobalamin version of B12?"

This leaves most people puzzled, they aren't sure what the heck I'm talking about.

HERE'S THE DIFFERENCE!

When you buy vitamin B12 and it's in a form that you swallow (tablet or capsule) it tends to be in a cyanocobalamin version of vitamin B12.  Your body must digest this form and then convert it to a form that your body can use, this form is methylcobalamin.

If you look in the ingredients of your vitamin B12 make sure it says "methylcobalamin", this is the form you want for optimal absorption in the body.  It is usually in the form a small pink tab you put under your tongue and it will dissolve and go directly to the blood stream for best absorption.

To sum up today's fast little lesson, if you are looking for vitamin B12 to increase energy or aid in iron absorbtion look for the methylcobalamin version of B12 to get the best effects.
